Franklin County | Correctional Center
Columbus, Ohio
Phase One of this $12,500,000 186,000 square foot complex included construction of a new 625-bed correctional building as well as connection to an existing incarceration facility. Construction consisted of two (2) new two-story wings – each surrounding a central courtyard.
In addition, the project included interior courtyards, parking lots, driveways, curbs, walks, landscaping, security fencing and site utilities. The structure is a combination of cast-in-place concrete and concrete block with brick veneer.
In its original form, the Franklin County Correctional Center was composed of two new wings, each surrounding a central courtyard. The rear portion of the facility was slated for renovation.
Due to the savings realized by Ruscilli during the initial Phase, the County chose to construct a third wing rather than renovate the existing space. This $7,000,000, 65,000 square foot project allowed the County to add 225 beds to the previous facility thereby totaling 850 beds. As with the prior two wings, this structure is a combination of castin-place concrete block with brick veneer.
